During the semester I used active reading techniques like using different highlighters and leaving comments while reading. I used different colors to highlight in order to make my ideas easier to find if I needed to come back. Leaving comments next to important sections was helpful because I could write the important information to see if I came back later. While reading I would highlight and leave comments on important information or things that connected to other things we had read or learned about. Choosing the information that you think is important shows that your ability to interrogate the reading. Gilroy said that while annotating to take the information part by part. I think that while reading I would take each section of the reading part by part while annotating. I think that going part by part while reading helped me annotate the important things. The example that I used was my annotations of What The Best College Students Do by Ken Bain. In the two picture I used yellow to highlight the important information about mindsets, and I used blue to highlight the end notes. I also left comments that showed the important parts of each section. Using these active reading techniques made it alot easier to go back and use this information later.
